KD&GDB

Ephemera, ETC.
Tonight was beautiful, complex, multifaceted, layered, shot through with joy and laughter and deep sadness, awareness of the hole in the room, the heart.

Mike Skinner was my friend - like, my *friend*, for a long time - my running buddy, my confidant, my foil, my peer, my big brother. He had my back; we were bonded, even when we were periodically struggling with each other. There was always love, acceptance underneath. And so many other people feel/felt a version of the same.

I’ll always miss his sensitivity, grasp of the absurd, belief in the abilities of his friends, passion, wit, humor, spark, his soul. I’m lucky I knew him how I did as long as I did, and if you knew him, you know you were too.

Regram from @jmcandyshop, the morning of our first ever sold out show @boweryballroom, January 2008.

One year ago today, thanks largely to our audience, we released #Bubblegum & #Bulldozer.

It’s been a supremely rewarding if totally imperfect experiment.

I’m still proud, grateful, here, learning. Thank you.
